Dubbo to Cobar

347km to arrive at Cobar around 2:30.

Let’s hope so. En route to Cobar.
A metal and gold mining town. Lots of old mining machinery and statues made out of metal dotted about.
This pub REALLY feels like a…

We stopped in Dubbo for a dustpan and brush (THAT was the mystery item we forgot). Past Bogan Shire and a town called Warren (“last town named after a bloke for 200km!” said the imaginative tourism marketing team) to arrive in Cobar. This was selected due to the location of the Cobar Sound Chapel, a reclaimed water tank with sound art and architecture by Glenn Murcutt.

The Sound Chapel encouraged silence but did we get it, no. Also revving sounds of Mad Max style dirt bikes outside.
Mitch is an acoustic engineer didn’t you know?
Our campsite for the evening is the Cobar Old Reservoir, a free site.

Right before they all shared their unique language translations!
Singalong session!

In the morning the kids remembered their walkie talkies and went on some missions around camp. Plus many visits to neighbouring dogs Shylo and Billy, who were on their way to Sydney.

See ya Cobar!

Next stop Silverton (Broken Hill).
