A looooong drive today (504.4km) through flat flat land and a “straight dead” road. We really only passed through one main town on the way, Wilcannia, where we got self serve diesel with rabid dogs circling (not really). Then lots more flat straight and dead till we reached Broken Hill (the hill we thought was ‘broken’ was actually just a mining site) and 20 minutes beyond that, Silverton. Lots of dips in the road (finally) and rain, rain. Our campsite is the Silverton Camel Farm, onboarding included only two pieces of important information, and three sticks: watch out for the territorial emu (hence the sticks) and the shoe-stealing dog. Tomorrow we will explore where they filmed Mad Max (where we are staying) and go for a pub meal in Broken Hill. Hopefully this campsite looks less like a rubbish tip when it’s not drizzling and muddy!🤞🏼☀️
PS forgot to mention, we crossed a time zone! That makes this official.

So here’s a tour of our campsite / cinematic rubbish tip.
