Sickness has claimed me now as well as Mitch! (Lux is seeming much better now, yay). Choked down some cold and flu to make this next leg feasible!
Sunrise on the morning of departure.
Our route was further along the Oodnadatta Track to William Creek, before turning onto William Creek Rd towards Coober Pedy.

Bull’s head number two. They forgot to include Umina Beach. And, it was bustling for a midday on a Monday in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE.The same DIY sign maker at work across William Creek. Turns out, we could have used some luck. William Creek Road at a standstill.Hello! Right near Anna Creek, the world’s largest cattle station.
About an hour from Coober Pedy, we suffered a major setback! Our back windshield was shattered by a rock.
After our repair job. The whole windscreen was gone by this stage.
This was not a joy to repair in the heat, both sweating through cold and flu shakes. We are still figuring out what this means for our next little while.
Coralie’s take on the situation. She called them ‘happy videos’…On outskirts of Coober Pedy, hat tree. We made it. Shattered glass and all. The girls kept giving us updates: ‘SFSG’ (so far so good), ‘LG’ (looks good). We are staying at an underground motel, that used to be an opal mine! It is as weird and kitschy as you’d imagine.Little mining dioramas everywhere.
This is our chance to do some washing, regroup, and potentially rejig our itinerary 😬
