Coober Pedy to Agnes Creek

Reporting on this leg from my sickbed as this lurgy has hit me bad. Not sure if it’s worse because there’s no real opportunity for rest or it’s just a bad strain. Either way, fun!

On our way out of Coober Pedy we visited the underground Serbian Church, which was in the middle of nowhere surrounded by piles of peach-coloured rubble (which was already in the middle of nowhere surrounded by piles of peach-coloured rubble).
See?
It was pretty epic.
Ramp to heaven?
Girls were quite nonplussed by the bathing pool.
For balance, here’s the Catholic Church we visited the day before.
Which was older and maybe a bit cuter.
Okay enough religious iconography for now.
A quick note to say I was devastated that Underground Books was closed! 😭

Because of our re-routed itinerary, instead of heading towards Uluṟu we were on our way to Alice Springs for glass repairs and a big annoying detour. To break the trip up Lux picked a campsite from our trusty CAMPS guidebook (I’ll show you later) called Agnes Creek. This was a free camp by the roadside just south of the NT border. Free generally meaning no cash but also no facilities. It was 326km from Coober Pedy to Agnes Creek, past basically nothing (okay sorry, Marla Traveller’s Station).

Good job Lux! Agnes Creek was gorgeous.
Dry sandy riverbeds and ghost gums.
Kitchen with a view series.
Trying to finish off this blah book.
Mitch emerged from his sickbed briefly to snap this glorious portrait of my crappy fire 😳
We all went to bed early.

It was so hot when we arrived we were absolutely swarmed by flies… but by the middle of the night it was freezing, dropping down to 2 degrees.

So now an Appreciation Post for the Diesel Heater Mitch installed in our camper trailer, which he got up in the night to switch on. Yep, he installed it HIMSELF because he is a HERO and that is just one of many excellent mods he made before we left.

📍Still researching which Country this was!
